I’ve always believed that the best summary of me as a character came from my favorite English teacher when I asked her to sign my high school yearbook:
“Tony, you have the most peculiar oscillation between being
sophisticated in one moment and surprisingly silly in the next.”
-Mrs. Wilson, English teacher
Have you ever wondered what the weird kids in high school did when they grew up? Well here we are, an entrepreneur with an events entertainment business. I never saw myself here when people asked me where I thought I’d be in five years, haha!
I always knew I wanted to work with people. I wanted to be financially rewarded for being very good at building relationships and earning trust, so I would work in jobs that involved direct customer interactions like being a waiter or manager.
But I always liked odd work, stuff that was off the beaten path, so I’d check Craigslist from time to time and see what whacky (sometimes sketchy) posts people were making.
One day I saw the big one:
Would you like to be a DJ for weddings?
To which I thought “that has to be a scam, but how could I not reply?”
Now, I’m at a point in my career where I’m not trying to convince anybody that I’m the person they want to hire. Nope, I want to earn trust through transparency, so it’s very important to me that I show people whom it is that they would be working with.
I think that's how any relationship should work, whether personal or professional. So I responded to this Craigslist ad by starting with a gif of Captain Jack Sparrow saying “A wedding? I love weddings! Drinks all around!”
It wasn’t until years later that he told me this:
“When I saw that gif I knew I had found the right man for the job:
Someone who was professional, but still knew how to have fun.”
You can see plenty of reviews mentioning me during my time working with Paradise as one of their Michigan DJ’s HERE.
Now I work as a DJ for weddings and other events in west Florida, and hope to expand from there. At this point I’ve started to make a name for myself and I’m very proud of what I’ve accomplished! You can find links for all sorts of websites that have reviews on THIS page.
I have a great time as long as you’re having a great time. I love playing great music that makes people look at each other and go “NO WAY!”, whether it’s my personal taste in music or not. I’m all about having fun… but not at the expense of making sure things run smoothly. I stay on top of what’s going on next, and makes sure to keep an open line of communication with all relevant parties to make sure your event goes the way you envision it going. I’m very easy to work with, and look forward to hearing your vision for an event so I can help you accomplish it! :)
